Weissport is a small borough located in Carbon County, Pennsylvania, within the Lehigh Valley region. Founded in 1792 by Colonel Jacob Weiss, the town quickly became a hub for the canal industry, specializing in the construction and repair of boats along the Lehigh Canal. By 1832, it was a significant center for boat building, serving companies like the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company and the Morris Canal & Banking Company. Geographically, Weissport is situated on the east side of the Lehigh River, covering a total area of approximately 0.16 square miles, of which 0.14 square miles is land and 0.02 square miles is water.
The borough’s rich history and access to the Lehigh River and D&L Trail makes it a great place to live, work, and play for both history buffs and nature lovers! We hope to see you at one of our community events or local fairs highlighting our culture and small-town hospitality.
